Sea Isle Realty - Homepage Makeover

I’ve been doing some work for Sea Isle Realty, most of it surrounding the redesign of their website.  We had started to add little things here and there to spruce things up and finally realized starting over was the only way to go looking forward.

Today, I started to roll out the first new site pages.  Here’s a little before and after of the homepage.

Before

The old site had been around for several years now, 5 at least, and needless to say everything was outdated. The HTML had hundreds of errors, even on the smallest of pages, there was proprietary code strewn throughout…lets just say it was a big mess. In addition to recoding every page, I had to dig into an old shell script-based rental program to update the pages involving the rental searching and display.

After

The new design makes strong use of happy “seashorey” colors and a newly re-organized navigation system that no longer relies on javascript to function.

The code went from no doc-type soup to well-formed strict HTML 4.01.  This will allow for easier reading through by search engines, and hopefully aiding the placement of the site as well.
