Project Goals

North Star Traffic expedites shipments for large organizations all over the Northern Hemisphere, and needed a bold website to match that image.

They started with a "do it yourself" package from their hosting company, but it quickly became clear that the visual and usability portions of the site were extremely lacking, especially when paired against their competition.

It was also in their wish list to streamline the communications between themselves and their clients during the shipments, using the website. At the time, numerous Excel spreadsheet visits and phone calls ran rampant throughout the day, killing productivity.

Solution Provided

North Star was very clear with what they wanted design-wise. A planetary theme to create a "global" impression for the company. A 3-dimensional spinning earth and orbiting satellite fit the bill and set the stage for the rest of the site.

The next area of focus was the private portion of the site for clients only. A complete shipment tracking system was constructed so clients could login, view the status of their shipments and logout, without having to pick up the phone.

This site was one of the first produced in this region that incorporated separate print stylesheets, and a concentration for ease of use on a cellphone.
