Project Goals

Jewell Real Estate Agency wanted to discuss upgrading their existing web presence. Updates to the site had become more costly and time consuming, often running into the thousands of dollars for maintenance yearly, while the turnaround time had only increased over time due to the dwindling enthusiasm of the current web designer since changes had become so monotonous.

It was very important early on that they would have the ability to update much of the information on the site themselves, especially their frequently changing stable of sales listings.

They also publish and mail out a quarterly newsletter to several hundred people and we agreed that the newsletter should be added to the website. We also agreed that people should be able to sign up for the newsletter and receive it through the site.

Solution Provided

First thing, the design was completely overhauled to look more lush and modern. Colors that matched both there office and home were incorporated to capture who they were. Flash was used to run photo slide shows on pages, as well as seashore sound effects.

The static pages were replaced with a series of dynamic ASP pages that connected to a custom constructed control panel to give the Jewell staff easy access to information maintenance. Sales listings can now be updated on the fly, photos can be uploaded through the control panel and the maintenance costs have completely disappeared.

The newsletter was built into the site along with a mailing list in the control panel, saving postage every quarter. The newsletter is now blasted to hundred of subscribers in mere seconds. A news articles section was also added to allow for more interesting content to be added to the site.

Visitors continuously compliment them on their beautiful and pleasing to use website.
