The Design Collaborative Launch

Last night we launched the brand new Design Collaborative website. This was another fun opportunity to pick apart something that came out of this studio back in 2005.

Being made that long ago, the site was full of techniques I frown upon today, such as having the site’s navigation made in Flash instead of regular HTML, having the site run on an old ASP/MSAccess system instead of a nice new PHP/MySQL/CodeIgniter system and several other items throughout the site I really wanted to re-code as they could be much more efficient.

The new visual design retains the colors and some of the concepts from the original design, but I really wanted a wider and cleaner layout with more breathing space while reading, larger text.

The new CodeIgniter-powered control panel I built for them truly gives them control of all aspects of the site - making the redesign what I would consider a true success.
