About Sites by Joe

Sites by Joe is a tiny web design studio in southern New Jersey run by me, Joe Taylor. I've been involved in a large variety of web projects, and have built a reputation for delivering sites that are easy to use and pleasing to the eye.

I enjoys creating exceptional web presences for small businesses, that do more than act as simple online brochures. The goal of each site is to play a role in the business. This can mean incorporating a custom content management system to reduce maintenance costs, creating a built-in email campaign and "blog" systems, and even performing custom programming to fulfill those "wouldn't it be cool if..." dreams of the client.

This type of thinking in web development helps create a foundation for a successful website.

I am versed in all disciplines of web design and bring a unique and broad skillset to the service of my clients. I'm also a naturally gifted artist, having been creatively active since the toddler years.

I am an experienced visual designer on the computerized canvas, having a very strong skillset in programs like Photoshop, Flash, Swift 3D, plus many more. I am also fluent in most popular web languages and flavors, including HTML, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, XML, ASP, SQL and PHP. Joe also enjoys working with today's popular databases including MySQL, MSSQL and even Access.

Although I am comfortable with all these fancy "web terms", I won't waste your time trying impressing you by using them. Plain English works just as well and is often preferred by normal people who don't live their lives being as nerdy as possible.

Meet the People at Sites by Joe

When I'm not tapping away furiously on the computer, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife and children and occasionally playing whatever musical instruments I can get my hands on. I also enjoy quiet walks on the beach, exploring South Jersey's worst areas via bicycle, acting like a buffoon for the amusement of my children, irritating my wife, luring birds onto the porch for seed, performing thought exercises and reading dark, satirical paperbacks.

Sure, having super-genius computer skills is handy in building geart websites, but unfortunately it leaves a little to be desired in some other departments. That's where the lovely Maryellen Delaplain comes in. She not only manages the books, clients, dispersement of funds etc, she also has the daunting task of keeping an eye on me to make sure all my "I's" are dotted and "T's" are crossed. That means jumping in for user testing sessions, having to listen to long speaches about boring nerdy topics while pretending to be interested, but perhaps most importantly, helping me achieve balance so the computers don't blow up.
